 FAQs

Showroom Experience

  • Seeing and experiencing products first hand is a great initial step in understanding options.  We have numerous displays in our showroom including fully functional window and door units, small table top units, corner cuts/sections to show construction, color chips, hardware, trims, mouldings, and other finishes.  We also have displays of our window and door accent, cabinetry, counter, hardware, and wallcovering lines.  While we might not have the exact full unit you may be selecting, we can provide samples of the components that will come together to create your final unit.  Schedule a time to meet with one of our consultants and begin the process.

  • Because we offer several brands and types of products to provide options for our clients (unlike many of our competitors) and in order for you to experience the full spectrum of products, a showroom visit allows you to see, touch, and operate the products that we recommend as options for your project. Once details are dialed in, we are happy to bring color samples and other detail selections to your home for final selections and matching.

Our Process & Philosophy

  • We have a seamless and elevated approach to windows, doors, and other fine building products.  We begin with personalized consultations, followed by design and planning, capping off the process with our expert installation.  Click here to learn more.

  • Great question!  Studio 4 Showroom is one of the only companies in the Greater Harrisburg Region that offers a truly option-based approach with full service installation (insert and full frame approaches) of several major brands and types of windows and doors.  Our goal is to help each of our clients evaluate their options and find the best fit solution for their needs.  We provide a no-pressure consultative based process that does not rely on sales gimmicks.  Schedule a time to meet with one of our consultants and begin the process. Service & Installation

  • Yes, however we only service the window and door brands that we sell (even if it was not purchased through us). If you have a product from a manufacturer that we do not carry, we recommend reaching out to the manufacturer directly for guidance.

  • During our pre-order measurement site visit, we will review preparation for your specific installation.  In general, we ask clients to have the following addressed:

    1. Remove decorative items on the wall and floor within 4 feet of the window/door area (both inside and outside).  We can review the location of large furniture pieces and if they need to be moved.

    2. Ensure that there is a clear path to the units being installed for our installation team to access the areas.

    3. We’ll review any existing window treatments and whether they will be re-used.

  • The time it takes for installation is dependent upon the number of units and installation approach.  Typical 1-3 panel doors can be replaced in one day.  With a two-person team, single window units using an insert installation approach can be completed in approximately 2-3 units/day.  For full frame installation with trim work, it may take 2-3 days to complete 3 windows.   Complex projects with more windows or larger assemblies will take multiple days.  An estimate will be provided at time of quote for your specific installation project.

Timelines, Payments & Costs

  • All of our products are made to order from the manufacturer.  Lead times vary with each company and each line within their offerings.  We are happy to provide current lead times for any of our product lines during our consultation.

  • We accept cash, check and major credit cards. Because all of our product lines are special order (non-stock), a 50% deposit is required.  On most projects, the remaining balance is due at the completion of the installation or delivery of the product.  Terms may vary depending upon the scope/scale of the order or project and will be included in your proposal.

  • Cost vs. Value, from JLC (Journal of Light Construction), is an annually released report that compares the average costs of over 20 home remodeling projects at the national, regional, and local levels, as well as the value that those projects retain in certain markets.  Once drilled down to your local market, the report provides a brief overview of the project scope and materials, the average project cost to complete the work, done by a registered/licensed company with proper practices, and the ROI of that project property value.  The data is sourced from surveys, estimates, and real estate data, aiming to provide accurate and reliable information on remodeling costs and values.  https://www.jlconline.com/cost-vs-value/2024/

  • The cost of a window replacement can vary widely depending on the size, material, style, and performance specifications of the window, as well as the complexity of the installation. On average, our mid-range to high-end residential windows—including our professional installation—typically range from $2,500 to $4,500 per unit, though custom designs, specialty shapes, or premium materials can push costs higher. Factors such as structural modifications, historical preservation requirements, or integrating upgraded energy-efficiency features can also influence the final investment. While initial costs may seem significant, selecting high-quality windows installed by experienced professionals ensures long-term performance, energy savings, and enhanced property value. A detailed consultation and site assessment will provide the most accurate estimate based on your specific project goals and home conditions.  We’re happy to provide an initial investment estimate for your specific project after our initial consultation (phone, video, or in showroom).  We can walk you through what information would be needed to begin the process.

  • The cost of a door replacement varies based on the type of door, material, size, and installation requirements. For high-quality residential entry or patio doors, including professional installation, homeowners can typically expect to invest between $4,000 and $9,500 per door, with custom or specialty designs exceeding that range. Factors such as premium materials (like solid wood or aluminum-clad systems), enhanced security features, custom sizing, and site preparation can significantly impact the final cost. Replacing a door is also an opportunity to upgrade energy efficiency, aesthetics, and functionality, which can add long-term value to your home. A professional evaluation will help determine the best solution tailored to your specific needs, style preferences, and structural conditions, ensuring a seamless and lasting installation.  We’re happy to provide an initial investment estimate for your specific project after our initial consultation (phone, video, or in showroom).  We can walk you through what information would be needed to begin the process.

Windows and Doors

    2. Residential windows are commonly made from wood, vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum, and composite materials, each with distinct characteristics. Wood windows offer classic beauty, natural insulation, and custom design flexibility but require consistent maintenance to protect against moisture and weathering. Vinyl windows are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and low-maintenance, though they can be limited in color options and are less rigid over large spans. Fiberglass windows provide exceptional strength, thermal performance, and durability with minimal expansion and contraction, making them ideal for demanding climates; however, they often come at a higher price point. Aluminum windows offer a sleek, modern profile and superior structural strength but may have lower natural insulation unless thermally broken. Composite windows blend materials like wood fibers and polymers to deliver the benefits of strength, efficiency, and minimal maintenance, typically positioning them as a premium option. The right choice depends on your performance priorities, architectural style, and long-term maintenance expectations.  Our consultants are focused on helping you to evaluate options and find the best fit for your project.

    2. Exterior doors are commonly made from wood, fiberglass, steel, or aluminum-clad materials, each offering distinct advantages. Solid wood doors provide timeless beauty and natural insulation but require regular maintenance to protect against moisture and sun exposure. Fiberglass doors are highly durable, energy-efficient, and low-maintenance, with realistic wood-grain finishes available; however, they may be less customizable for truly bespoke designs. Steel doors offer excellent security and durability at a competitive price point but can be prone to denting and may require touch-ups to prevent corrosion. Aluminum-clad doors combine the strength of a metal exterior with a wood interior for a balance of durability, design flexibility, and minimal upkeep, although they are generally more premium in cost. Selecting the right material depends on your specific needs for aesthetics, performance, climate resilience, and maintenance preferences.  Our consultants are focused on helping you to evaluate options and find the best fit for your project.

  • Several signs can indicate that it may be time to replace your windows and doors. Drafts, noticeable temperature fluctuations near openings, or an increase in energy bills often point to declining thermal performance. Visible issues such as rotting frames, condensation between glass panes, warping, or difficulty in opening and closing are also strong indicators of functional failure. In some cases, outdated products may lack modern energy efficiency, security features, or aesthetic appeal, diminishing the overall value and comfort of your home. Professional assessments can reveal hidden problems such as compromised seals, frame movement, or structural fatigue not immediately visible. Replacing aging or underperforming windows and doors with high-quality, properly installed products helps restore efficiency, enhance curb appeal, and protect your investment over the long term. Addressing issues early can also prevent more extensive repairs to surrounding walls, floors, or finishes.

  • The lifespan of premium windows and doors typically ranges from 20 to 40 years, depending on material composition, product engineering, and environmental exposure. High-performance materials such as fiberglass, aluminum-clad wood, and advanced vinyl composites are specifically designed to resist warping, corrosion, and thermal expansion. Multi-layered glazing systems, reinforced frames, and high-quality finishes further enhance durability against UV radiation, moisture infiltration, and temperature extremes. Proper installation is critical, as incorrect fitting can lead to air and water leakage, structural shifting, and reduced product life. Regular maintenance—including inspection of seals, lubrication of moving parts, and timely refinishing of exposed surfaces—can significantly extend performance longevity. Professionally installed and properly maintained, mid- to high-end windows and doors are engineered to maintain their structural integrity, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal for decades.

  • Today's premium windows and doors are designed with advanced energy-efficient technologies to help maintain comfortable indoor temperatures year-round while reducing energy costs. Features such as insulated frames, multi-pane glass with gas fills, low-emissivity (Low-E) coatings, and precision-engineered weatherstripping all work together to minimize heat transfer and air leakage. Advanced glazing options, thermal breaks in frames, and superior sealing systems are engineered to limit drafts, condensation, and UV damage to interior furnishings. Many products are also ENERGY STAR® certified, providing an additional layer of assurance regarding performance and environmental impact.  Our products often exceed national energy efficiency standards and can be tailored to meet specific climate zone requirements. Proper installation is equally critical, ensuring that each unit performs to its full potential without gaps or weak points.  Energy efficiency ratings are specific to each product and dependent upon all final selections (including size, coatings, operation, etc.) and will be provided at the time of consultation and quoting.
